SAYLORVILLE DAM

There is something unparalleled about standing on top of the Saylorville Dam and looking out at the high-rise buildings on the horizon knowing that you will conquer the distance in between. After crossing the dam athletes will travel south through the fields and rural beauty of Polk County.

DOWNTOWN DES MOINES

Runners traverse I-35 at the Morningstar bridge and continue into the Northside Neighborhoods, along the Des Moines River at Birdland Park and enter into Downtown Des Moines via the John Pat Dorrian Trail. Athletes will finish their 20K journey by crossing the Des Moines River and passing the World Food Prize Building. With the finish line behind, there's a huge party awaiting you at Cowles Commons across from The Des Moines Civic Center.

CHARITY PARTNERS

SAYLORVILLE DAM

We know that building a great event should never take from a community but strengthen it. DAM to DSM is committed to finding unique and inspiring ways to build a better community through hosting an event that will inspire generations of runners.

In 2019 DAM to DSM has started a brand-new tradition by partnering with the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Saylorville Dam to fund an annual project aimed at serving the health and wellness of it’s patrons.

KICKS FOR KIDS - DSM RUNNING SHOE DRIVE

Inspiring another generation of endurance runners in Central Iowa starts by making sure that everyone has the necessary equipment to toe the starting line.

Partnering with select Des Moines high school cross country + track programs  DAM to DSM will host a slightly-used running shoe drive during packet pick-up for the 2019 race. Shoes collected at packet pick up will then be distributed to select schools around the Metro to support the next generation of Iowa runners.

More information about how to become involved with the 2019 KICKS FOR KIDS- DSM event coming soon.
